Platform Guidance & Support
Beyond design and build, I provided comprehensive guidance to ensure the MBF team had a sustainable, scalable digital presence that fit their goals and resources.
Platform Selection: Recommended Squarespace as the most effective option for its balance of elegant design flexibility, ease of use for non-technical staff, and integrated functionality (menus, forms, newsletter sign-ups, SEO).
Domain Purchase & Connection: Supported the team through domain purchase, DNS configuration, and secure connection to the new website.
Pricing Transparency: Outlined various Squarespace plans, helping the team understand cost tiers and select the most appropriate option for their needs and budget.
Training & Handoff: Provided guidance on updating content, adding new events or announcements, and managing the site independently post-launch.
Ongoing Support: Ensured that the platform setup positioned Zocca for smooth day-to-day management while remaining scalable as the restaurant grows.
Key Messaging & Story Anchors
Highlighted the Foundation’s mission to assist individuals and families impacted by paralysis through grants such as accessible vehicles, home modifications, and essential adaptive equipment.
Emphasized Matt’s personal journey: from a high school spinal cord injury in 2010 to becoming a motivational speaker and college graduate from Stonehill College.
Framed messaging around community strength, philanthropic impact (over $300K in grants awarded since founding in 2020), and major events.
Visual Direction
A clean, modern design with uplifting visuals and strong emotional resonance—reflective of themes like perseverance, community unity, and overcoming adversity
Seamless integration of impactful images (e.g., MBF events, community support snapshots, Matt’s story visuals)
A warm yet bold palette to evoke optimism and strength, paired with typography emphasizing clarity and empathy

Working with Steph has been an absolute dream. I often feel like I am in uncharted waters when it comes to some of the technological things we try and do at the foundation. When I come to her with questions about the things I would like to do, Steph always takes the time to walk me through what works and what doesn't. Her work ethic is second to none and I can't envision working through things with anyone else. We have been so lucky to have her!
